We are excited to announce that 13GEM will be providing PE Day Camps at Marymoor Park for the 2017-2018 LWSD School Breaks. These camps are designed for students to get involved in organized sports, exercise, and social activities during the Summer months. Students will engage in all four sports throughout the week.
Each week of camp operates Monday - Friday for students between the ages of 4-12. There are Week Long, Single Day, and Aftercare registration options throughout the Summer months.
Sports Periods involve students learning the fundamental skills and concepts of the sport in focus. They will have fun engaging in basic drills and skill games that provide students the time and space to master the content taught. The drills and games are Physical Education in nature so all students are given equal participation time, regardless of individual ability level.
Rest, Replenish, & Study Film Periods are designed for students to recharge their bodies for the next sport period. During that time students will be watching College and Professional Game film for the purposes of learning the game through active observation. This will expose students to higher levels of understanding within each sport so they can start to think and see the game far beyond current experience and ability levels.
I have worked in other camps in past years and have seen what the "typical" camp is like and it always frustrates me. Inexperienced counselors, with scant equipment, on dicey surfaces playing random games with low activity rates. Here is what I guarantee your child(ren) will NOT be doing:

Students will use this time to sit under the shade, socialize with friends, and allow their bodies to recharge for the next sport period
Parents are strongly encouraged to pack plenty of snacks and proper beverages* along with a robust, nutritional lunch. Students will be expending tons of energy so we want to provide them with ample "refuel" time between bouts of vigorous activity.
*Water is always best, followed by sports drinks such as Gatorade/PowerAde, followed by fruit juices; avoid carbonated and/or caffeinated beverages
This is an aspect of 13GEM programming that really sets it apart from other options. No time is ever wasted so students will be cognitively and relevantly engaged watching game film with friends using technology in the classroom to learn, even during "rest periods". This knowledge is then transferred into understanding through action during practice repetitions

*Only need to submit registration form for first purchase, after that simply purchase classes/camps without re-submitting form
