For introducing players to the fundamentals of soccer. Players will participate in a variety of activities from focused skill drills to develop fundamental skills, to game-like activities to develop tactical awareness, to small-sided games for fun and teamwork.
We will spend equal time training and playing so there is growth associated with participation.
Dribbling, passing, defending, off-ball awareness, scoring, teamwork, and tactics are many of the skills and concepts that will be learned in this class.
Program will resume in the Fall. Details TBA. Please register for Soccer Summer Camps during the Summer Season.
For players with strong fundamentals needing to expanding awareness, vision, composure, and tactics. This is more than recreation. Training sessions will be high intensity and packed with activities. It is important that players are excited to move fast, enjoy playing for playing's sake, and compete for the ball. Rather than motivating players to "try hard", the coaches want to focus on the skill and conceptual growth of all players.
While this is not a "tryout and cut" program, previous skill is required. 13GEM Select will focus on advanced strategies and tactics of soccer. While fundamental skills will be reinforced in each training session, the majority of time will be spent learning how to read the game. Without possessing a strong skill set of foundational skills, players will struggle to keep up with concepts and activities. Recreational soccer is recommended for newer players.
We ask that players have previous Select soccer experience with another club, extensive rec soccer experience elsewhere, or have completed at least 6 months of regular attendance in the 13GEM Rec Soccer Program. See below for the 13GEM Select Summer Program details.
Future program for experienced and highly skilled players that will involve tryouts and cuts. This program will start Summer 2025 as the plan is to build it from the 13GEM Rec and Select programs. 13GEM has a unique, specific, and complex playstyle that will require the highest levels of awareness, skill, and team spirit. This is the team that will enter the local youth leagues like the RCL. 13GEM will field several teams across several age groups.

We offer programs for players ages 4-17 with the goal of introducing children to the game of Hockey. Floor Hockey is played by running around with a hockey stick, no skates needed. While few children have been introduced to hockey, once they start to play it quickly becomes a favorite activity.
In our hockey class, players learn the fundamental skills of stick handling, passing, shooting, and defending, alongside the concepts of spacing and the roles and responsibilities of the various positions. The class ends with a team competition.
This program is designed to introduce and teach complete beginners to Floor Hockey, so no previous skill is required. All equipment is provided. Students only need to show up excited to learn and play.
Location: MAPS (Muslim Association of Puget Sound)- Redmond
Program will resume in the Fall. Details TBA. Please register for Floor Hockey Summer Camp during the Summer Season.
Players will learn how to throw and catch a football as primary skills.
A major part of this program is teaching players the “Route Tree”, which is exactly what they will see when watching games on TV. The “Route Tree” consists of patterns such as the Stop, Slant, Out, and Go as basic routes and a panoply of intermediate and advanced routes. Learning how to throw these routes as a quarterback, run and catch them as a receiver, and defend them as a defensive back is the goal of this program.
Defensively, the variety of coverage options and techniques will be learned.
Players will engage in an even mix of drills and game-like activities to maximize learning. A goal of this program is that players will be able to watch football games on TV with greater knowledge and recognize routes, coverages, and terms.

My personality and skill set caused me to gravitate towards the field of Education and more specifically Physical Education. First and foremost I am a leader and function best in leadership roles. I enjoy the responsibility and accountability of being a leader. There is no greater responsibility or area of accountability than teaching children how to become healthy contributors to society. The reason I chose Physical Education is because my favorite activity to participate in is playing sports. I always wanted a job that afforded me the opportunity to do what I love every day and teaching Physical Education affords me that opportunity. The combination of helping others improve themselves while engaging in sports and exercise makes being a PE Teacher the ideal job. My enjoyment and enthusiasm for this profession combined with a natural talent for teaching creates an enjoyable class atmosphere that empowers all students to reach new levels of achievement. It is important that students have positive exercise experiences early in Life to increase the likelihood of engaging in a health enhancing level of exercise into adulthood.
My primary mission is to help students cultivate the skills, knowledge, and intrinsic motivation to maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity for a Lifetime by engaging in sports and exercise.
I graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2007 with a Bachelor’s in P-12 Health and Physical Education. I have 13 years teaching experience in a wide variety of teaching situations: public, private, special needs school, urban, suburban, in the classroom, in the gym, contracted teacher, substitute teacher, literally all grades PK3-12, academic classes, and an after-school program to name a few.
Soccer has exponentially increased in popularity since my childhood in the 90s. I grew up playing every sport except Soccer until I was introduced to it at UGA during my PE Teaching Curriculum. I instantly fell in love with the game and realized I grew up playing the wrong sports... I was made to play Soccer. It instantly became my favorite sport, and all my personal athletic time was spent learning how to play and read the game. Through teaching PE and coaching other Soccer programs, I have coached many children of all skill levels: from beginners touching a ball for the first time to advanced players on other youth Premier teams. Now after 20 years of learning how to play, read, and coach the game through real Life experiences, I feel prepared and excited to launch 13GEM Premier, and starting in 2025, 13GEM Elite.
My objective is to create a program culture that emphasizes sharing the ball, playing simple soccer, and playing team ball over solo ball. I want to get players away from thinking that every play needs to be a YouTube highlight or result in a goal. Understanding tactics such as build-up play, stringing together passing sequences, using a drop pass to relieve pressure, and playing off-ball by reading the game are lacking in many of today's young players. I want players focusing on strengthening their weak foot dribbling and passing over learning how to do a Rainbow, Elastico, Step Over, or some other flashy, nonessential trick.
Receive, pass, offer.
Share the ball.
Score goals as a unit.
Pressure the ball to regain possession.
Cover for teammates as needed.
Play simple soccer.
Simple soccer is beautiful. I want to train players in these philosophies because it is my favorite style of play and I believe it will create the best footballers/soccer players.

Our inaugural program will be U12. Our hope is to expand in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 based on registration demographics. Players ages 8-12 are welcome to join.
For our first season, we are going to have a boys' program. Our hope is to add a girls' team in Fall 2024. We welcome all families who are interested in learning and playing soccer.
Our inaugural program will have two teams: 13GEM Black and 13GEM Blue. Each team will have 12 available roster spots. Players and families can choose which team they'd like to join as long as there are open spots. Once a roster fills up, players will only be able to register for the unfilled team.

This is way more than a youth program; this is a professional program for youth. Players will have access to game film, and we are going to teach them how to break down and analyze it. With their film study skills, they will be able to create their own highlight reels that can be added to their player profile for showing friends and family. This will also help them with college recruiting in the future as they will already have a robust library of highlights to share as well as the skills and knowledge to create new ones in the future. ("See the "Technology in Training" and "Veo Use in 13GEM Premier" sections below)

Our program starts with a "preseason" of 5 consecutive training sessions which allows players to learn foundational activities, skills, concepts, and philosophies of 13GEM Premier. The "regular season" follows at a 2 trainings:1 game ratio. This allows the coaching staff to implement tailored training plans based on previous game performances for the team and individual players using game film.

During the "regular season", players will play regulation games with uniforms and referees every third training session. 13GEM Black will play 13GEM Blue. Score will not be kept, per USSF Regulations, but the competitive spirit will be at full intensity. Players will play two 25 minute halves with a 5 minute warm-up and halftime period

This library will be designed for the ball obsessed players who want to play, train, and learn as much as possible.

In fact, less skilled players will receive the extra attention needed to catch up to the average skill level of the team. Our objective is to ensure each player gets between 100-300 touches per training session. The "Tiki-Taka" style of play we coach necessitates technical skill and our training sessions focus on developing these skills.

We will teach players all the positions on the field during training sessions and in games. This means players will spend time as a defender, a midfielder, and a forward. No player will be a full-time position. The emphasis will be on understanding the entire pitch and how each player can contribute to the team from different places, positions, and angles. At the U12 level, our objective is to develop a holistic soccer player rather than producing "strikers", "center backs", or "wingers". (Exception: goalkeeper, please see the "Goalkeeper" section below)

13GEM Premier specializes in expanding young soccer minds' awareness beyond dribbling the ball to the entire pitch to see teammates, angles, and space. Donuts and milk will be provided for everyone: players, siblings, cousins, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and coaches. Whoever attends the last game can participate. We will commune and celebrate a great season. Prior to the last game, players will submit their favorite personal and team highlights to be composed into a highlight montage that will be given instead of a trophy or medal. Families will be able to relive the great memories over and over again!

Goalkeeper is the exception to the "no full-time positions" policy described above. We will allow any player WHO WANTS to be a full-time keeper to do so. A full-time keeper will be assigned to a team and will play keeper in all training sessions and games. Full-time keepers will receive two of their own Keeper Uniform Kits and can purchase and use their own keeper gloves if desired or use a team set provided at no cost. Full--time keepers will not be put in the field position rotation and will play entire games without substitution.
Full-time Keepers will receive two uniform kits. No need to pay extra as uniform cost is included in the registration fee. Keepers can choose their own number based on availability.
If we do not have any players interested in being a full-time keeper, then we will implement a "keeper by committee" policy. Field players will spend equal amounts of training and game time filling in for the keeper position when one is needed. Keeper time will be tracked and documented to ensure no player is being forced into goal more than others. 13GEM Premier will have a team keeper uniform kit and set of gloves for players to use when it is their turn to play keeper- parents will not be responsible for purchasing the keeper equipment.

Inspired by Barcelona's Tiki-Taka play style, we coach players to make quick one-touch and two-touch passes while on the ball and consistent offering movement off-ball. The ball moves faster when kicked than when dribbled, so we encourage passing more than dribbling. We teach that soccer is about kicking the ball and that passing the ball is as important a kick as a shot. We teach that a professional soccer match can have 200-500 passes, 0-15 shots, and 0-5 goals, on average. Therefore, knowing how to pass accurately and consistently is the backbone of our developmental philosophy.
Our style is "direct, purposeful possession" which means we form triangles and use possession passing as a means to find outlets. We do not coach blind "possession for possession's sake". Our initial read is always to move the ball forward, but when that is not possible, we pass it around until an opening is created.
Offensively, we want quick passing with lots of off-ball movement. We want the ball to be shared often. 13GEM mottos like "I get the ball. I pass the ball. I get the ball. I pass the ball." and "Receive, pass, offer. Receive, pass, offer." form the backbone of our offensive philosophy. We teach that your teammates want to touch the ball as much as you do, so share it, no ball hogging. If you pass around and play possession with your teammates with the intent to score, then the ball will eventually find the back of net. And the exciting part of this play style is that it can be anyone who scores the goal; the ball decides who scores.
Defensively, we want to pressure the ball to regain possession quickly. Players near the ball pressure the ball, players away from the ball close space and passing lanes. I know this sounds obvious, but working as a defensive unit is a difficult concept for U12 players to understand. Teaching players how to communicate and work as a unit on defense to maintain a shape is the primary objective.
Our training philosophy is that "Games are fun, but training sessions are foundational." Every training session devotes time to reinforcing the fundamentals of dribbling and passing. We want each player to have hundreds of touches during a training session. We want players to enjoy training as a form of intentional growth, not just random play time. A fun training session for us is defined as intense, competitive, and showing sportsmanship with lots of learning.
This is Coach Jacob's favorite trio of all-time. Xavi Hernandez and Messi are his two all-time favorite players. In our opinion, this is the most beautiful form of soccer. Soccer is a team game and team goals are magical. We are not remiss to acknowledge the technical skill this play style requires, but that is the purpose of training. We want to provide our players with a method and style of thinking about and processing the game. Players at the U12 level are capable of understanding and implementing advanced principles if they can be conveyed properly and practiced in training. The challenge is being able to teach these concepts to younger minds, and this is what 13GEM Premier specializes in.
Click below to see a video of how we coach our players to play. We show this video during the "Possession Passing" portion of training to convey the idea of what we want players to do. Once they see it and perform 13GEM Premier training drills, they are capable of executing this play style. We have already trained players to play this way.
This introductory video illustrates everything we intend to do at 13GEM Premier using Veo.
Registration fee includes a Player Profile on Veo for creating and storing highlight reels. Players will be taught how to create highlight reels from raw game footage as this skill will be needed later in life. If your player decides to leave the team, then those highlights can be downloaded and kept by the player.
Coaches will watch film to assess player development. Strengths and weaknesses in both skill and strategy will be identified for each player for the purposes of creating tailored training plans. As the player learns and grows, Veo will allow us to evolve training plans in sync with player evolution.
Training sessions will consist of "minute film sessions" to convey and reinforce abstract concepts. Film session videos will be available for players to view by accessing the online coaching library that comes with registration. Players can watch raw game footage and coach created highlights of themselves to analyze and learn on their own time.
Players and families can create and share clips from past games in the season. Players can watch games for learning and share highlights with friends. Parents can watch games and highlights they may have missed, rewatch great moments they want to remember, and share those games and moments with family members abroad.
The Ultimate Mission of 13GEM Premier is to help players achieve their dreams, and for many that is playing collegiate and pro soccer. Getting to these levels requires more than just skills and results, it requires sharing those skills and results with the world. We want to help our players start that process by providing them with the skills to develop and maintain a player profile that can be shared with future recruiters and recruiting platforms.
Coaches will be devoting significant time away from the field to help your player develop. All of the services provided: watching film to analyze players, creating coach directed highlights, tailored training plans for the team and individuals, and learning content for the online coaching library will all take time. As this club grows, all coaches will be professional and paid for their time because it is a large time investment to provide the high-level services 13GEM Premier offers. Our coaches are expected to do a whole lot more than show up with the equipment and coach.

Simple soccer is beautiful. I want to train players in these philosophies because it is my favorite style of play, and I believe it will create the best footballers/soccer players.

Soccer has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. From my earliest days on the field, I was driven by a passion for the game, and this love for soccer has stayed with me through every stage of my journey. I played competitively throughout my youth and into college, where I refined my skills and developed a deeper understanding of the game. After graduation, I continued my playing career at the semi-professional level in Oregon, where I gained invaluable experience and insight into the higher levels of competition.
While playing semi-professionally, I discovered my true passion for coaching and mentoring young players. The opportunity to pass on the knowledge and skills I had accumulated over the years became a driving force in my life. I began coaching youth teams, and over the past five years, I've dedicated myself to helping players of all skill levels improve and reach their full potential. I take great pride in not only teaching the technical aspects of soccer but also instilling a strong sense of discipline, teamwork, and a love for the game.
Coaching has allowed me to combine my lifelong passion for soccer with my desire to help others succeed. Watching young athletes progress and achieve their goals has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. As a coach, my focus is always on fostering a positive, challenging environment where players can grow both on and off the field. I believe that soccer is more than just a game; it’s a vehicle for personal development, and I’m committed to guiding my players to not only become better soccer players but also better individuals.

The importance of children learning a variety of sports skills rather than specializing in just one sport cannot be overstated. Many concepts are universal to all sports, and learning how to apply the same concept under a multitude of conditions will create a better athlete later in life if and when a single sport is chosen to pursue as a life-goal. This is the premise for this camp: the more sports an athlete knows how to play, generally the better the athlete is in their specialized sport. The Multi-Sport camp will focus on Basketball and Soccer, two sports that share many Universal Concepts.
Campers will spend 45 minutes learning and playing Basketball and 45 minutes learning and playing Soccer.
Campers will participate in a wide variety of games that are designed to develop skills and awareness. Even skill drill activities that are designed to develop a specific skill or concept will be couched in some form of objective or competition. This will allow campers to not only learn the physical skills of sports, but also the social-emotional concepts of Sportsmanship, Integrity, and Best Effort. They will naturally learn how to win and lose with grace and respect through the process of gameplay.
13GEM Sporting will be providing Basketball goals that are adjustable from 4.5ft to 8.5ft. The NBA Guidelines for "Basketball Goal Height by Age" will be used to determine the hoop height for these campers. Smaller, lighter size 4 Basketballs will be provided to make shooting the ball easier. During the Soccer portion, 4'x6' goals will be used alongside smaller, softer balls to account for playing inside.
Coach Jacob and Coach Chris will combine to coach this camp. With Coach Jacob being an expert in Soccer coaching and Coach Chris being an expert in Basketball coaching, campers will be exposed to high-quality information in a high-quality environment. We expect players to grow rapidly in skill, awareness, confidence, and by extension, joy of playing these sports through successful experiences.
Each camper will receive one 13GEM Sporting t-shirt to wear to camp as part of the registration fee. Additional t-shirts can be purchased for $15 each.

Some children are naturally drawn to ball sports, and this propensity tends to show itself at a very young age through something Coach Jacob calls "ball obsession". If you have a child that is constantly throwing, kicking, and holding a ball, even before talking, then this camp is for them. The objective of this program is to introduce young children to the structure of organized sports and the development of the most basic motor patterns. Program structure is very loose and guided by the interests of the children. Sometimes, soccer balls and goals and basketballs and hoops are presented to the children and allowed to choose to play what and how they want. Other times, children are encouraged to follow instructions or mimic the coach's actions. The goal is to have children laughing and learning while playing sports.
Campers are given open access to Soccer and Basketball equipment and guided by the coach based on these interests. Coach directed activities are spread equally across the two sports.
At the age of 3-4, performance expectations are non-existent as their little brains and bodies are in the nascent stages of development, we just want them to play, laugh, and begin to learn how to follow instructions and basic sequences. Colorful equipment is used to teach colors and basic numerical skills are introduced. Our goal is to grow the minds and bodies of these young ones.
13GEM Sporting will be providing Basketball goals that are adjustable from 4.5ft to 8.5ft. The basketball hoops are generally set at the lowest (4.5') or second lowest setting (5'), which is the perfect height for 3-4 year olds. Smaller, lighter size 4 Basketballs will be provided to make shooting the ball easier. During the Soccer portion, 4'x6' goals will be used alongside smaller, softer balls to account for playing inside.
Coach Jacob will coach this camp. He has many years experience coaching children ages 3-4 through both Physical Education and Youth Sports programs, combined with his degree in Physical Education for grades as young as preschool and current teaching position with a local preschool. The camp is designed for the developmental needs of preschool aged children.

Weekly summer basketball camps will stick to a routine schedule on a weekly basis. While drills and games on any given day are subject to change, the general outline and format for camps will follow a consistent plan from week-to-week (M-Th).
We will spend the day learning the basic rules and violations of the sport and instructing the campers on how to play within them. We "PREACH" knowledge, respect and sportsmanship!
We will spend the day running drills or games that will build the skills and abilities required of the sport. Our goal is to "TEACH" the campers to play safely and successfully.
We will spend the day building upon the skills and abilities required for basketball success that we worked on the previous day. We will "REACH" for new heights!
The final day of camps will be full of mini-games and competitions where the campers can test their newfound skills and abilities. We will "PLAY" our way into a new understanding!
Each camper will receive one 13GEM Sporting t-shirt to wear to camp as part of the registration fee. Additional t-shirts can be purchased for $15 each.

13GEM Sporting Summer Soccer Camp is a great program for children to spend Summer Break improving skills, expanding knowledge, releasing energy through exercise, and social interaction with current and yet-to-be-made friends! Our goal is for campers to get a healthy mix of competition, cooperation, and fun through teaching concepts such as Sportsmanship, Integrity, and Best Effort.
Each day campers will participate in a variety of drills for skill development in the fundamental areas of dribbling, passing, defending, shooting, etc. Various small-sided games such as Rondos, 1v1s, and other objective-based games will be played so campers can hone fundamental skills under pressure. Full-sided and small-sided regulation games of Soccer will allow campers to synthesize everything they have learned into the game environment.
While campers will engage in activities such as individual dribbling drills to develop fundamental skills, the majority of camp time will be spent playing games. A mix of regulation and modified games throughout the schedule will keep campers interested and enthusiastic about each activity.
One of the primary objectives for all 13GEM Sporting programs is to teach players, especially younger players, how to SEE and THINK the game, not just physically play the game. Campers will be taught how individual skills are used in combination with teammates to create a team unit that works together. They will spend time learning roles, responsibilities, and strategic thinking for playing Soccer in the 13GEM Sporting style of play.
Each camper will receive one 13GEM Sporting t-shirt to wear to camp as part of the registration fee. Additional t-shirts can be purchased for $15 each.

13GEM Sporting Soccer will be providing a program for boys and girls ages 5-7. The Winter Soccer program runs for nine weeks, with a two-week break during the final two weeks of Ramadan. Weekly sessions occur on consistent days and times. All skill levels are welcome- from beginners to advanced. This program will be coached by Coach Jacob and other experienced 13GEM Sporting coaches, so all players will receive expert coaching and high-quality programming that results in massive growth and major joy in your child(ren). Sessions will focus equally on skill development and gameplay with an emphasis on growth and learning, not merely participation. This is a major feature of all 13GEM Sporting programs.
We plan to expand the program to include older age groups once more coaches are hired. We are actively searching for more Youth Soccer coaches.
